Special Tour of the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum in Canyon, Texas.
CASETA presents the fifth installment of the Great Texas Curatorial Wander series with a special tour of the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum in Canyon, Texas.
Tour and commentary by Michael Grauer, who served as the Curator of Art and Western Heritage at Panhandle Plains, and worked 31 total years at the Museum. You will be almost guided through the Panhandle Plains Museum's Frank Reaugh Gallery, the H.D. Bugbee Gallery, the Gayden Family Texas Art Gallery, and more! Introduction by Stephanie Toll, Marketing Director at the Panhandle Plains Museum. Michael Grauer is at present the McCasland Chair of Cowboy Culture at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

Carmen Champion says: "Houston based artist Frank Freed took to painting tardily in life executing mostly representational works of art documenting his life experiences. Although the variety of subject affair and range of execution is evident, he has generally been dismissed as a "Sunday painter." This presentation will attempt to defy that suggestion by arguing the importance of Freed'southward work in revealing critical social tensions and anxieties during some of the most tumultuous times in history."
Bio: Carmen Champion holds a full-time faculty position as Professor of Art History and Gallery Manager at San Jacinto College Cardinal Campus. She earned an MA in Art History from the University of Houston where her art historical focus centered on Early Texas Art and Civilisation. She has worked in the curatorial departments of major bookish and public museums and is an Associate member of the Appraisers Clan of America.

The 2nd program in CASETA's Curatorial Wander serial presents a private wait inside the studio of sculptor Charles Umlauf (1910 - 1997) presented by Katie Robinson Edwards, Acting Director and Curator of the UMLAUF Sculpture Garden and Museum in Austin, Texas.
Program too features an informative sculpture tour of some of Charles Umlauf's most of import early Texas art works, presented past Umlauf Docent Tom Haider.

2020 CASETA Awards Ceremony
Throughout its history Caseta the Centre for the Advancement and Report of Early Texas Art has given awards and special recognition to individuals and organizations that have provided distinctive services or products or personal delivery that have advanced our understanding of early Texas art. This year will non exist an exception and even though we cannot do this in person as we usually do at our almanac symposium, tonight we accept an enjoyable presentation to announce who the award winners are and to hear from each of them directly.
